Oil is produced by a region of the Nigerian nations known as the Niger-Delta region. This is where most of the Nigerian oil comes from.

Some states that make up the Niger-Delta region include : Edo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, Delta state, Akwa-ibom, ondo, Abia, Imo and Anambra.

Nigeria produce about 2.53 million BPD (barrels per day) of which Akwa-Ibom( a state in Nigeria) produce about 31.4% (504,000 BPD).  Akwa-ibom is the largest oil producer in Nigeria.

Hydrocarbon is one of Nigeria’s abundant resources. Crude has always been the country highest contributor to it’s GDP and her biggest export.

So many states have a good number of hydrocarbon or crude oil deposit in it . Among such States are rivers, imo ,Delta, akwaibom, abia, bayesla, etc.

But the highest oil producing state in Nigeria is Akwa ibom state Nigeria. It contributes about 31.4% of the total crude produced in Nigeria. Akwa ibom is also a home to many oil fields.
