The main natural resources in Nigeria are
1. crude oil (I think this is the most important one in Nigeria it is found in the Niger delta of Nigeria(all the South South States) which are delta, rivers,Akwa Ibom,Bayelsa, Imo, Abia and Ondo state)
2.coal (it is found in Enugu, and part of Abia state)
3.lead (found in Ebonyi, Benue and Kano)
4.gold (it is found in Ijesha, Edo, Ebonyi and Kaduna )
5.iron ore (it is found in Delta, Anambra, Kogi and Benue)
God blessed Nigeria with lots natural resources, the ones listed above are just the common ones.
The main natural resources in Nigeria is crude oil and coal. There are more than 100 different mineral resources that exist in Nigeria.
Some are in abundant like
Crude oil
Coal
Columbite
Lime stone
Others are quite scarce like
Gold
Silver
Nigerian is one of the most blessed countries in the world. There are lots of natural resources in Nigeria, some of them are not yet even discovered.
Mineral resources are like manna, you wake up one morning and boom! you find them in your backyard. They are deposits from nature, they are naturally occurring, you don’t do anything to have them.
There are countries with no visible trace of mineral resources, others have them in surplus.
There are over one hundred plus different natural resources found in Nigeria.
Ten of them are quite popular.
1. Crude Oil
2. Lime stone
3. Talc
4. Gypsum
5. Iron Ore
6. Lead and Zinc
7. Gold
8. Coal
9. Rock salt
10 . Gemstones (Emerald, Ruby, Topaz, Zircon, Saphire etc.)
Nigeria is one of the largest oil producing nations in the world, It is number one in Africa.
Nigeria natural resources include but are not limited to : crude oil, gas, tin, iron ore, coal, limestone, niobium, lead, zinc and arable land. More than 30% of Nigeria’s total land mass is considered arable.
Natural resources are things that occur naturally and can be used as sources of income/wealth for any nation or individual.
They can be classified into two based on their uses.
1) Mineral Resources: Example-
Bitumen
Coal
Oil and gas.
Gold.
Iron ore
Lead
zinc
Salt
Tin.
2) Agricultural resources: Examples-
Cocoa
Coffee
Cotton
Groundnut
Kola nut
Oil palm
Plantain
Rubber
Sugarcane.
Timber
However, as noted by the comments above, crude oil is the main natural resources that exist in Nigeria.
Nigeria is the home to so many natural resources such as gold, silver, coal, kaolin, tin, gypsum, iron, sodium, rock salt, lime stone, and crude oil just to main but a few. But Nigeria’s main natural resources is the crude reason been that it’s the only resource that have the necessary equipment to mine.
And we have abundance of crude oil in Nigeria, we are in fact, the 13th on the list of world oil exporters.
