What is the staple food of Nigeria? I am looking to move over to Nigeria, I am from Southern Asia but married recently to a Nigeria man, I am just full of anticipation, I don’t know what to expect. What staple foods exist in Nigeria? Thanks for your answers.

    The staple foods of Nigeria includes:
    Rice
    Beans
    Cassava
    Corn
    Millet
    Sorghum
    Cassava
    Yam
    Potatoes
    Wheat.

    There should be a whole lots of them but these are just some of the staple foods found in Nigeria. Most of the delicious foods you find in most Nigerian restaurants and hotels are made out of these staple foods

    I think rice, beans, EBA (made from cassava) are some of the staple foods found in Nigeria. They are available in most Nigerian home and they are affordable for both the poor, the average and the rich. Also they are easy to get and can be prepared in diverse ways depending on the way you want it or the way u think you can afford…So i think most Nigerian prefer these staple foods.

    There are different staple foods that exist in Nigeria but the main staple food in Nigeria is rice. Rice is eaten by all tribes, zones, religion and ethnic group in the country. It is very easy to prepare, affordable and very delicious. It can  be made in various forms such as fried rice, jollof rice, coconut rice and MTN rice. It is found in every part of the country all year round. Also, several states in Nigeria now cultivate and process their own rice.

    There are various staple foods in Nigeria. You must note that Nigeria has over 250 different tribes and these tribes have different cultures. The food they eat must then differ. The most popular staple foods in Nigeria are:

    Rice

    Garri

    Yam

    Beans

    Cocoyam

    Maize

    You will also find some of the foods you are already used to like Maize, Wheat, Onions, etc.
